Sugar skulls, food, and Tequila — are the offerings or ofrendas, to entice those who’ve passed to the other side back for a visit! Make a day of it and dress up, there will be a face painter on-site if you want to get into the spirit of things
HISTORY Mexicans remember and honor their deceased loved ones. It’s not a sad or morbid occasion, rather it is a festive and colorful celebration of the lives of those who have passed on. Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a celebration of life and death. While the holiday originated in Mexico, it is celebrated all over Latin America with colorful calaveras (skulls) and calacas (skeletons) so why not here at Mavis’s Kitchen?
There will be fundraising for Wedgetail Retreat . Proudly part of award-winning not-for-profit Tweed Palliative Support (TPS). The vulnerable and disadvantaged are cared for free of charge. Clients and families that can, donate funds to assist with the daily operational costs of the hospice. Your donation will put you in the draw for a Holiday and meal package at Mavis’s Kitchen & Cabins worth over $1000.
